On 4th August 2008, Madrasa Riyaz-ul-Uloom held its Annual Meeting and Dastarbandi Ceremony of Huffaz, a spiritually uplifting and educationally significant event that celebrated the achievements of students who had completed the memorization of the Holy Qur’an.

This grand occasion was graced by the illustrious presence of renowned scholars, including Hazrat Maulana Hameeduddin Husami Aqil (Alaihi Rahma) — a distinguished Islamic thinker and reformer, Maulana Abdullah Qureshi Al-Azhari — a respected orator and scholar with deep roots in Al-Azhar tradition, and Maulana Sulaiman Sikandar — a prominent figure in Islamic education and community leadership.

The presence of such esteemed scholars not only elevated the importance of the event but also served as a source of inspiration and motivation for the students, teachers, and attendees. Their insightful speeches focused on the value of Quranic memorization (Hifz), the responsibilities of a Hafiz, and the need for implementing Quranic guidance in everyday life.

During the ceremony, 18 students were honored for having successfully completed the memorization of the Qur’an. Their dastarbandi (turban-tying ceremony), a symbolic gesture of scholarly achievement and trust, was carried out in the presence of the ulema and a large gathering of well-wishers, parents, and community members.

Events like these reinforce the mission of Riyaz-ul-Uloom to produce not just Huffaz, but practicing Muslims who embody the spirit of the Qur’an in their character and service to society. Such gatherings also highlight the ongoing efforts of traditional madaris in preserving Islamic values and promoting religious scholarship across generations.

The 2008 Annual Jalsa and Dastarbandi stands as a memorable chapter in the journey of Riyaz-ul-Uloom — a reminder of the dedication of its teachers, the perseverance of its students, and the continuous support of the scholarly community.
